An exemplar for impatience
Working with the lights on and windows open during the summer months I’m bound to attract the odd flying insect into my office.
I had recently bought a carnivorous plant and had strategically placed it on the window sill. I did this in the hope that it would help to reduce the number bugs that buzz into my ear hole as I try to work.
After a few hours of placing the Drosera Carabup, (Carnivorous Pygmy Sundew) on the sill, I looked up from my PC to see a good few bugs circling light bulbs and bouncing off the ceiling of my office. Surely, I thought, my trusty plant would have caught its first meal by now. Upon closer inspection, however, I discovered that my little green friend had seduced ‘diddly squat’.
10 minutes later I discovered that, in certain circles, I could be classified as ‘an impatient person’. I had found myself running around the office trying to catch flies with my carnivorous plant.
Oh yes…. really..yes…I know… its true….ho ho ho .. so true and soooo hilaaaarious and true….I know…I’m mad me…totally. Next week I’ll tell you my joke about the duck that walked into a pub (you’ll love that one). ;o)
By the way: Here is the real star of the show - the actual useless carnivorous plant sitting on my sill:
Update : Aug 2008
I’m sorry to say that the plant plummeted to its death, later that year, in a ‘freak window opening accident’.
