Sony Ericsson C902 camera won’t open - doh!

I recently lost my old mobile and it was kindly replaced by Orange very promptly.

Once I had received it, I charged it up and was keen to try out the camera. Apparently you just pull the lens cover open to reveal the camera. But, when I tried it, it just would not open. Aaargh.

I passed it over to my friends and they could not open it either. I thought I must have had a dud.

I had arranged to get Orange to send me new phone and it was on its way - when…i realised…..

THE SOLUTION

You have to peel off the protective plastic screen cover for the camera to work!

Otherwise it just glues the camera shut.

Less haste more speed next time eh!

BTW

Losing a phone is a nightmare. But, luckily, I had backed up all my text messages onto my PC

Same as above, i tried for ages to get the camera to open, i thought i was going to break the phone. And the battery cover wasn’t exactly child’s play either.
Its going to be horrible for those of us that like to keep the plastic screen cover on though.

Thanks for all the thanks. Nice to know I’m not the only one who rebels against the designer’s intentions.

I treat my phone so badly - chucking it in my pocket to rub against my keys etc. So, I like to keep the plastic on for as long as possible.

Its crazy to think of them spending thousands of pounds in their labs, testing the phone, and they forget such a simple thing - the pesky plastic cover.

  11. Debz Says:

omg i did the same thing. how crazy is that ahhhhhhhh.lol

  12. Ros Says:

    I did the same thing!!!

  13. John Says:

I also fell for it, nearly snapped the phone at one stage nice one for the help.

  14. Arlo Says:

Likewise I was ready to send mine back. I even took plastic cover off, finally got it opening then put it back on to protect it, then had same problem. So frustrating once realised the cause of it not opening!

  15. London Says:

Thank you for this tip. This phone is worse than a Rubik’s cube. I spent 30mins trying to get the battery cover off. (Paperclip is very useful). The prospect of trying to figure out the camera was just too much - I was so grateful for this tip. Huge vote of thanks. The moment i took the plastic cover off the screen was covered in fingerprints, shame.

Thanks!!! Its was really frustrating me I couldnt get it open no matter how hard I pulled!! You would think they would just add a line into the instructions!

  18. Anon Idiot Says:

Yeah.. I feel pretty stupid.. I knew the answer was out there, but I didn’t think i’d have to hold the phone at both ends and pull like a cracker, but only once the protective film is removed, to get this to open!

  19. elina Says:

thanks ive been pulling the camera all eveing thinking what a crap phone after reading this i took the film off the phone and yipee it opened
