Zend Server has landed
I’ve just downloaded and installed the Zend Server beta onto my Windows XP computer. It only took a few minutes from download to getting up and running with a hello world PHP script.
Its exciting to see PHP wrapped up in such a cuddly and pretty piece of sofware. I want to investigate and play for hours - but i’m tired and hungry and I also want to sleep.
A few years ago I asked a Dot .Net programmer if he’d used PHP. “Yes”, he said. His face shuddered as he remembered a horror. “It was a bloody nightmare. Easy to learn. But a nightmare to deploy. I had it working perfectly on my machine, but when it was deployed … it completely broke.” His hands gestured a game of Jenga being played with al dente spaghetti.
I think his nightmare might be over.
